HOÀI NIỆM VỀ KHOẢNG TRỐNG
Hoài niệm về khoảng trống gồm tiểu thuyết ngắn cùng tên và bảy truyện ngắn khác, được Trần Thiên Vân khởi thảo từ năm mười sáu tuổi và hoàn thành khi tròn mười tám. Không dừng lại ở những câu chuyện về tuổi thiếu niên đầy hoài bão với nhiều rung động đầu đời, ngòi bút của tác giả tiến sâu vào những góc tăm tối nhất và rực rỡ nhất của tâm hồn con người, vừa dạn dĩ, quyết liệt, vừa mềm mại, uyển chuyển và tinh tế, mang đến một cuộc mổ xẻ thú vị, đậm chất thơ về bản sắc của mỗi con người khi được đặt trong các mối quan hệ của xã hội hiện đại.

Trần Thiên Vân started writing The Nostalgia of the Void at the age of sixteen and completed it when she turned eighteen. The title novella and seven other short stories in this book not only focus on first loves and ambitious adolescence, but also delve into the darkest and brightest corners of the human soul, boldly and fiercely, yet also gently, gracefully, and subtly, offering a fascinating, poetic dissection of human identity when placed in the relationships of modern society.
Reading Trần Thiên Vân, readers might smile at the budding, inexplicable feelings of unrequited love that suddenly become so intense that they become vague, then a void. Paradoxically, from that void, illusions and myths emerge, becoming a nostalgia for things never experienced. It’s also possible that readers might be surprised by the insightful observations and psychological analysis of the characters – tough, cold, and full of details – from such a young author. Pausing somewhere on the page, readers might feel a pang of unease and empathy, observing up close a lonely individual, disconnected from their surroundings – a young person alienated from their mother tongue, their body, their generation – yet still striving to adapt, express themselves, and seek to be heard. La Nostalgie du Vide comprend le court roman du même nom ainsi que sept autres nouvelles, ébauchés par Trần Thiên Vân dès l’âge de seize ans et achevés à dix-huit ans. Loin de se limiter à des récits d’adolescence pleins d’élan et des premiers frémissements du cœur, la plume de l’autrice s’aventure dans les recoins les plus sombres et les plus éclatants de l’âme humaine — à la fois audacieuse, incisive, mais aussi souple, nuancée et d’une grande finesse — offrant une exploration captivante, empreinte de poésie, de l’identité de chacun lorsqu’elle est confrontée aux relations de la société moderne.
En lisant Trần Thiên Vân, le lecteur peut sourire devant ces sentiments unilatéraux à peine éclos, sans origine claire, mais qui deviennent soudain si intenses qu’ils en deviennent flous, avant de se muer en vide. De ce vide, paradoxalement, naissent des illusions, des mythes, et une nostalgie de ce qui n’a jamais été vécu. Il peut également être surpris par la profondeur des réflexions, des observations et des analyses psychologiques des personnages — rigoureuses, tranchantes et minutieuses — venant d’une autrice si jeune. Et, s’arrêtant çà et là au fil des pages, le lecteur ressentira sans doute une forme de trouble et d’empathie en observant de plus près un individu solitaire, coupé des liens qui l’entourent — un jeune être en exil de sa langue maternelle, en exil de son propre corps, en exil de sa génération — mais qui s’efforce malgré tout de s’adapter, de s’exprimer, de se faire entendre. Au cœur de ces parcours, malgré les contradictions intérieures et celles qui les opposent à la société, ces personnages cherchent à se comprendre, à s’accepter et à préserver leur singularité.
Ces huit récits composent une œuvre littéraire audacieuse, qui entraîne le lecteur dans son propre espace intérieur, où s’entrelacent désir et destruction, imprégné de nostalgie mais aussi d’espoir.
